To provide our customers with key-turn solutions, we have developed and worked out a selection of carefully chosen core components to be used with our spindle solutions. These components are the result of intensive testing and not only give you a seamless integration into your machining system, but also best performance. Whether as a recommendation or as part of a system package you purchase, these components make sure, you get the best out of our solutions.

In addition to our range of single accessories, we also offer stand-alone supply carts you can connect and run a spindle with wihtout having it fully integrated into a machining system. This allows to share a spindle system between multiple machines.

Accessories overview
Cable sets
Product information

We offer custom cable sets for each of our spindle solutions, available in the required lengths to ensure smooth integration and optimal spindle functionality.

Depending on the drive you use, these cable sets may also include motor filters and mating connectors.

Alternativelly, we can provide you with parts numbers and pin assignments so that you are able to assemble your cable set yourself.

Motor filters
Product information

Motor filters are essential to our products and are used as a standard for several reasons. With their inductance they help to transform a roughly sinewave shaped PWM current signal from the drive into a better and thus significantly reduce power losses and steep dU/dt (voltage changes).

Motor filters thus generally reduce the motor temperature and protect the winding heads of the motor stator from micro-flashovers.

As motor filters we offer the following series of inductors for all our tool spindles:

  • 220 µH, 12 A Ieff (RMS), 16 kHz
  • 300 µH, 18 A Ieff (RMS), 16 kHz
  • 400 µH, 30 A Ieff (RMS), 16 kHz

For our workpiece spindle “ASD-Px,” we can also offer a custom output sine filter that ensures an almost perfect sine wave current signal.

Servo drives
Product information

Function

The drive internally calculates and/or measures the spindle shaft position and reproduces a voltage/current sine signal to the motor stator with its (high-frequency) PWM frequency to get the shaft into the commanded position or speed. The higher the PWM frequency, the better the shape of the sine signal and the lower the harmonics that only contribute to power losses. For high-speed applications a PWM frequency of not less than 16 kHz is recommended.

With its internal logic (PLC/iPLC) and stored motor parameters it can translate commands from a machine PLC e.g. into necessary motor current/voltage signals to get to the commanded position or speed. Also safety features like a safe hold or machine interlock read outs are generally included to meet national and international machine safety regulations.

Application

Our spindle solutions are generally equipped with a synchronous motor and a 1-VSS SinCos encoder and can be operated with most of the available servo drives. However, having put a lot of testing into the development of our spindle, we can recommend or ship your spindle with a parametrized drive.

But even if used in simple torque or current mode where the machine PLC is the brain of the actuation, we can supply you with the right drive solution.

Recirculation cooler (Chiller)
Product information

A recirculation cooler or simply “Chiller” is crucial lead the thermal energy, generated by the spindle motor and the bearings, away from the machining system. A good chiller and cooling strategy thus are important for thermal stability and control during machining.

Thanks to a highly efficient thin-film liquid cooling we invented and developed for our spindle solutions, those are industry leading with respect to thermal stability and reliability. The quality of the cooling technology is of utmost importance, especially for applications that require highest precision.

Our product range includes a variety of cooling solutions specifically developed for both standard applications and such in an ultra-precision environment.

In this way, we can make sure that our customers always receive tailored solutions that meet their individual requirements.

Spindle mounts
Product information

Spindle mounts are used to hold an clamp the work-holding or tool spindle inside the machining system.

For a horizontal machining set up, we offer custom spindle mounts that can be flexibly adapted to different axis configurations. Made from high-quality steel and featuring a large contact area to the spindle for better heat conductivity, they are versatile and stable at the same time.

Standard spindle mount (xASD-H25x, xASD-Cx, xASD-H32x)

  • Footprint: 136 x 130 mm
  • Available Hole Pattern: 112 x 106, 112 x 112, 106 x 106 mm
  • Center height: 70 mm

Hole pattern dimensions and center height can be customized as needed.

For applications where the center height is particularly critical, we offer an ultra-flat yet rigid height fine adjustment for our standard spindle mounts.

Spindle flanges
Product information

Where no separate spindle mount can be used, we can offer custom flange solutions that are part of the spindle housing and which are predominantly used for vertical set ups in CNC machines.

Over the years we have created numerous and bespoke flange units that are firmly connected to the spindle housing using thermal shrinking. This allows a very precise, reliable and cost-effective method to customize our spindle solutions to meet your very own requirements on integrating those into your machining solution.

For customers who require larger quantities, we also offer single-piece custom housings.

Stand-alone Supply Cart

To run our motor spindles without having them integrated in a macining system, we offer a stand-alone supply cart that contains of everthing required to run the spindle. Only AC power, coolant and bearing air need to be connected to the supply cart. All safety features like tool clamp monitoring and pressure and flows witches we well as all electric/electronic components are integrated, matched and parametrized. Using a Siemens panel the user can select the speed, start and stop to control the spindle. Should the bearing air or coolant flow be too low or should the tool not be clamped properly, it would not. To not neglect the machine safety entirely, there is an error input port which can be used to stop the spindle, should the machine give a fault-signal.
