Error Motion – Precise separation of artifact, synchronous, and asynchronous errors

Our error motion analysis enables a complete and clean breakdown of all relevant error types in a rotating spindle – in just a single measurement and without having to realign or reposition the artifact.

Our measurement and evaluation method separates all three sources of error:

  • Artifact errors (shape deviations of the reference body)
  • Synchronous errors (speed-related spindle errors, e.g., eccentricity, angular errors
  • Asynchronous errors (bearing- or process-related disturbances, random dynamic components)

The artifact shape is calculated mathematically so that the spindle quality can be evaluated independently of the reference body used. At the same time, the separation of synchronous and asynchronous errors allows a precise diagnosis of the bearing condition, motor control, and dynamic stability.

Statistical error analysis & trend analysis – performance made visible

In addition, all recorded error data for each spindle is statistically evaluated. Artifact, synchronous, and asynchronous errors can not only be compared numerically, but also displayed in Gaussian distributions to visualize dispersion, process stability, and quality levels.

At the same time, the temporal progression of error development can be tracked. This makes it possible to see at a glance how the performance of a spindle changes over its service life – or how individual models compare to the entire spindle fleet.

This combination of error separation, statistics, and trend analysis creates unique transparency: Development, quality assurance, and service not only see what is happening, but also how stable it is and over what period of time it is happening.
