“ShakesBear, Hamlet” System (Error-Motion Messung)

“ShakesBear, Othello” System

About our analyzer systems “ShakesBear”

two systems (ShakesBear, Hamlet & ShakesBear, Othello), one Software

“ShakesBear, Hamlet” – Sub-nanometer spindle error analyzer system according to DIN ISO230-7 with automatic error separation and report generation
“ShakesBear, Othello” – Spindle and machine dynamics analyzer system for speeds up to 100,000 rpm, with automatic report generation
Static spindle/machine and dynamic result database, tailored to your own product range
Sub-nanometer level spindle error analysis at speeds of up to 80,000 rpm (ShakesBear, Othello)
Comprehensive nanometer level analysis of spindle/machine dynamics properties like dynamic tool run-out, spindle asynchronous errors, resonance maps, vibrations and axial shaft growth (ShakesBear, Othello)

Since no suitable technology was available on the market to qualify our spindle products on a nanometer level at speeds up to 100,000 rpm, we developed our ShakesBear system early in our spindle history. The same applies to measuring, testing, verifying, and optimizing spindle dynamics and thermal behavior.

In 2020, we merged all our test and measurement methods into a single system, including a technical and database ERP system to keep track of all spindles in our production and those that left our facility. Because of its unique and comprehensive features on the international market, it has been developed as a selling product and has become a global standard. Due to the different hardware requirements, there are two systems – “Hamlet“ and “Othello“. Both use the same “ShakesBear“ software, but differ in terms of the available modules. The modern, user-friendly software is continuously maintained and developed internally in Levicron to meet internal or external requirements. The user can be sure to get a well-proven tool from an experienced manufacturer of ultra-precise spindle solutions used daily.

ShakesBear Systems at a glance

ShakesBear, Hamlet (with 3 modules)

“ShakesBear, Hamlet” is one of our leading spindle analysis and testing systems, specifically designed to measure spindle errors according to DIN ISO 230-7 (Error-Motion) for rotating systems. In addition to sub-nanometer resolution, a user-guided and user-friendly software environment, and the ability to perform radial and axial measurements at speeds of up to 80,000 rpm, our system features a crucial distinction.

Any measurement of rotational properties is carried out against an artifact, which can be the spindle shaft itself or, for example, a master ball. Even in a nanometer scale, these artifacts include shape errors that even change with speed. These errors are repetitive (synchronous) and are identified by other systems as spindle synchronous errors. With our specially developed error separation in the “ShakesBear, Hamlet”, these errors are automatically and continuously separated. No reversal method or interaction by the user is required. Time-consuming and error-prone reversal methods, such as the “Donaldson Reversal”, are thus eliminated. This makes sure that, even with low-quality artifacts, the spindle synchronous errors can be determined. Looking it the other way around, our “Shakesbear, Hamlet” system can also be used to qualify such artifacts and determine their form errors in a never seen quality and time.

The integrated static database is tailored to your very own product range and can even be modified by the user through a GUI. The integrated dynamic database, on the other hand, provides statistical analyses of all past measurements.

We are also happy to offer custom interface adapters for your specific spindle system to ensure seamless integration.

Software modules
ShakesBear, Othello (with 6 modules)

Our “ShakesBear, Othello” is a dynamics analyzer system, primarily designed for spindle manufacturers or machine OEMs who frequently change machining or work-piece spindles in their machines to re-qualify them or assess the impact of the spindle on the machine system’s overall performance.

Accordingly, the following software/test modules with automated report generation are included:

  • Dynamic tool run-out over spindle speed and at spindle speeds of up to 100,000 rpm
  • Spindle vibrations over spindle speed and at spindle speeds of up to 100,000 rpm
  • Spindle asynchronous errors over spindle speed and at spindle speeds of up to 100,000 rpm
  • Resonance map over spindle speed and at spindle speeds of up to 100,000 rpm *)
  • 2-Channel FFT with peak hold (impulse response)
  • Axial shaft growth and/ or temperature and/ or speed over time
  • 4-Channel Drag-Pointer Dial Gauge with non-contact distance measurement and resolutions of under < 5 nm

*) A machine/systen resonance map can also be generated by using the spindle as an vibration source (synchronous fundamental) and the sensor placed on axes, housings, or other machine elements. The user thus receives a resonance/response map of the machine system at the selected measurement point.

We are also happy to provide custom interface adapters for your specific spindle system to ensure seamless integration.

Would you like to get a first impression of our system?
We have created a ShakesBear demo version that allows you to become familiar with its use. Please note that, because no hardware is included and because it uses included raw data, that no real measurement can be carried out.
